Holder, Partner, Covington & Burling, Trustee Emeritus of Lawyers For One America and former U.S. Deputy Attorney General ACTION IS THE DIFFERENCE WE MAKE LFOA's Pro Bono Law Office provides free legal advice and services to underserved communities in the San Francisco Bay Area, including general commercial and tax law, business education for micro-businesses and nonprofit public benefit organizations and programs, and civil legal and tax services and advice to the individual working poor, to help them gain economic self-sufficiency. LFOA's Diversity Center offers diversity programs for law firms, law departments and lawyers of color to significantly increase diversity at all levels and within all sectors of the legal profession, including diversity seminars, consultancy and training, recruiting, mentoring and executive coaching. LFOA's National Institute for Diversity in Law program focuses on preparing students of color, from middle school through law school, for the demands, excitement, and rewards of successful careers in the law.LFOA's Recommendations to the Legal Profession Our nation – unrivaled in power and rich from the growing diversity of its people, is approaching a crossroad. Lawyers For One America is standing in that crossroad to assist the legal profession and the communities lawyers serve. For People of Color Entering Law School and Becoming Attorneys A Guide to the Bar Examination for People of Color that provides law students of color with a collection of tips and advice on how to study for the bar exam.
